Tension – tension fatigue tests with wire ropes are much rarer than bending tests. If the results of tension – tension fatigue tests have been published, their evaluation is very often hindered. As Chaplin and Potts /1/ pointed out one problem is that the tested wire rope or the test conditions are not specified enough. The other problem is that there is no convincing regression formula.
