Accelerated fatigue tests on wire ropes using the rotary bending machine with an analysis of its performance

The characteristics of the rotary bending machine in service at the Department of Mechanics and Aeronautics, University of Rome "La Sapienza", are briefly reviewed. Modifications of the machine necessary to carry out tests on wire ropes are explained. The results of tests conducted on instrumented wire ropes are described in detail.
